Would advise you to go through the SAP BI Roadmap - the roadmap is available on the SDN site as well in the BI Page.
The Product roadmap clearly states that:
1. Reporting will be moved into BO by 2009
2. The datawarehousing remains with SAP BI
You would be looking at the base datawareshouse bwing SAP BI , Reporting on BO and possible non SAP datasources being migrated to BODI.
Think along these lines - if you spruce up your knowledge on Crystal reports and excelcius you will have a very good advantage.
